Teodoro García assures that “the PP has always been alongside farmers” and highlights the importance of this proposal for a sector that employs 10,000 people in the region of Cieza (Murcia)
This has been explained by Teodoro García himself, who recalls that "from the PP we have always been on the side of the farmers, regardless of the political color of the Government, in all those issues that concern them, because we are aware of the importance of a sector like agriculture in our Region.”
“And not only in quantitative terms related to its weight in the regional economy,” he continued, “but also by the number of families that live from a modern and sustainable sector that has managed to transform our land.”
The 'popular' deputy has indicated that through this non-legal proposal “the Government will be urged to support the peach of Cieza (Murcia) and its region through the implementation of a designation of origin and through its support in international markets to facilitate its introduction and positioning at an international level.”
And, as Teodoro García has pointed out, “the peach from Cieza (Murcia) has characteristics that make it unmistakable compared to any other similar product, derived both from the influence that the Segura River has in these lands and from a climate of temperatures cold in winter and warm in spring, which facilitates the production of fruits of high organoleptic quality.”
The municipality of Cieza (Murcia) is currently the largest peach producer in all of Europe and employs around 10,000 people directly or indirectly throughout the region. For its part, peaches are the main irrigated crop in the Region of Murcia, exceeding 250,000 tons of product with an area occupied by fruit trees of more than 14,000 hectares throughout the region.
As data that gives a good account of the importance of the Cieza region (Murcia) in this sense, it is worth noting that more than half of the total cultivated area and more than 70 percent of the total peach harvest belong to this region. region.
