The increase of up to 40% in subsidies for contracting Agricultural Insurance is approved

On October 2, at the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Council of Ministers approved the second modification of the Combined Agricultural Insurance Plan for the 2015 financial year.
This will make it possible to increase subsidies for contracting insurance in the case of agricultural lines, which begin their contracting period between September 1 and December 31, 2015.
Thanks to the increase in the base subsidy, between 11 and 40%, depending on the option chosen, the contracting of modalities that offer coverage against a greater number of risks in sectors such as fruit, extensive herbaceous and olive groves will be encouraged.
The approved modification is the second that occurs in the 2015 Plan, which highlights the dynamism and agility of the Combined Agricultural Insurance System, led by ENESA, as a risk management tool, which adapts to the needs raised each year and contributes to the maintenance of Final Agricultural Production.
The Agricultural Insurance System in Spain allows farmers and ranchers to take out insurance policies to deal with the risks that affect their farms, and that put their economic viability at risk, at reasonable prices, thanks to public support. received at the time of hiring.
In this way, some 400,000 producers trust the system annually, ensuring a capital of more than 11,000 million euros, of which, 46% corresponds to the agricultural lines whose contracting begins on September 1 and that have been subject to the modification. approved last October 2.
